Clerk of Works - Capital Proejcts

Finegreen are supporting an NHS organisation in London to appoint a Clerk of Works.

The position is for an initial period of 4 months, on an hourly rate of £39.99, direct engagement.

The post holder will be a key element in the capital development team which is responsible for delivering the Trusts capital programme of construction projects.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Clerk of Works is responsible for inspecting construction work to ensure it meets statutory standards and health and safety requirements;

  • Extensive knowledge of Town Planning, HBN & Building Regulation legislation, maintaining a full understanding of the evolving legislation, ensure safe and efficient implementation of the schemes developed;

  • Responsible for inspecting construction work to ensure it meets the requirements of the construction drawings and specifications;

  • Checking all critical stages of the project to ensure that the quality meets both the specification and the expectation of the end user;

  • Responsible for quality checking building materials used ensuring they meet the required health & safety standards;

  • Quality assurance monitoring, compliance with specification, NHS standards (Health Building Notes HBN’s & Health Technical Memoranda HTM’s) and LGT specific standards;

  • Review Health & Safety compliance to include the wearing of PPE on site by all, site conditions (tidy site uncluttered), access and egress control on site and the displaying of relevant notices (including F10);

  • Ensure that contractor’s compound site set up is fully compliant with the Trust’s standards to include any hoardings and signage.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A degree in a relevant discipline construction management or building surveying;

  • Professional membership of appropriate body e.g. Institute of Clerks of Works and Construction Inspectorate (ICWCI), CIOB (Chartered Institute of Building);

  • Experience as Clerk of Works on major capital projects in NHS or construction setting;

  • Experience of using AutoCad;

  • Ability to prioritise workload and work on own initiative in a pressurised environment.
