Senior Matron/Head of Clinical Practice – Adults Inpatients

Job Description

We are working with an NHS organisation in the East of the UK who are looking to appoint a Matron. This role will be for up to 6 months with a competitive salary dependent on experience per hour inside IR35 (Through an Umbrella Solution).

The post holder will lead the clinical teams within your service to deliver high quality, safe care, ensuring that they meet both local and national requirements in relation to high quality care based on the three fundamentals of quality.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Lead services in delivering quality care by embedding quality at the heart of services and ensuring clinical areas are compliant with quality standards, meeting regulatory needs;

  • Ensure that clinical staff are meeting their expected level of competence within agreed frameworks such as KSF and professional codes of conduct;

  • Provide clinical leadership to implement systems and processes to deliver local governance and provide evidence and assurance to the locality manager on key quality standards;

  • Ensure that nursing and AHP care delivery models are embedded in clinical practice;

  • Make certain that concept and practice of reflection is embedded within clinical teams;

  • Ensure nurses and AHPs regularly run and co-facilitate therapeutic groups in in-patient and community settings, and evaluate the impact of these;

  • Monitor nurses and AHPs to describe the evidence base for the work they do;

  • Undertake regular assessments of staff competence within an agreed framework set by the organisation;

  • Acts as a credible clinical leader to professional staff, visibly role-modelling excellent care and demonstrating professional boundaries with service users and carers;

  • Contribute to, and supports, the organisation’s training needs.

A successful candidate will have:

  • Registered Nurse (Mental Health) or Registered Allied Health Professional (within the field of Mental Health;

  • Extensive experience working with Mental Health healthcare settings, ideally adults’ inpatients area;

  • Proven managing change and introducing new ways of working; and with multi-professional collaboration;

  • Partnership working with other statutory and voluntary organisation's;

  • Experience of implementing organisational strategies and policies.
