Senior Commissioning Manager - Stroke Pathways

An exciting opportunity has arisen within an NHS organisation as a Senior Commissioning Manager – Stroke Pathways. The role will be based in the East Midlands on an interim basis for an initial 6 months with a potential to extend to 12 months, at a competitive rate based on experience.

The post holder will support the business in driving transformation as well as value for money in planning, commissioning, and service.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing subject matters expertise and liaising with the Strategic Clinical Conditions and Pathways Team;
  • Supporting the Head of Service in the implementation of strategy;
  • Playing a pivotal role in the identification, implementation, and resourcing of projects for the delivery of QIPP;
  • Co-ordinating delivery of QIPP through relevant workstreams and commissioning managers;
  • Co-ordinating delivery and fulfil PMO needs of organisation and STP;
  • Ensuring appropriate resourcing and support is available for the operation of the team;
  • Attending and chair necessary clinical improvement meetings, resourcing appropriate clinicians to support or lead project work;
  • Deputising for the Head of Strategic Clinical Conditions and Pathways Team;
  • Supporting and co-chairing all relevant workstream;
  • Providing appropriate reports and updates as required for both operational and transformational meetings;
  • Supporting the delivery of day-to-day activities and projects;
  • Managing the team and driving delivery of a range of business initiatives and projects;
  • Supporting the identification and sharing of best practice in employee engagement;
  • Lead the team in the delivery of project plans, allocating tasks as appropriate, identifying risks, issues, and dependencies;
  • Develop a comprehensive and cohesive plan for the transition period, which is consistent with the overall project timetable;
  • Act in a way that is compliant with Standing Orders and Standing Financial Instructions in the discharge of budget management responsibilities;
  • Responsible for making recommendations, providing advice and able to prepare strategic reports/briefings for the Head of Department, Steering/Reference Groups and others as required;
  • Directly manage the team and responsible for day-to-day work assigned to the team;
  • Responsible for the recruitment of team staff, chair of recruitment panels and acting as the recruiting officer;
  • Support, motivate and develop staff within the team to ensure that they can deliver the new responsibilities of the NHS strategy;
  • Plan, develop and evaluate methods and processes for gathering, analysing, interpreting, and presenting data and information;
  • Deliver projects to comply with key performance indicators.
  • The ideal candidate will have:

  • Educated to master’s level or equivalent level of experience of working at a senior level in specialist area;
  • Extensive knowledge of specialist areas, acquired through post graduate diploma or equivalent experience or training;
  • Provide and receive highly complex, sensitive, or contentious information;
  • Problem solving skills and ability to respond to sudden unexpected demands;
  • Ability to analyse complex facts and situations and develop a range of options;
  • Professional calm and efficient manner.
