Modern Matron

Finegreen are working with a large Mental Health NHS Trust in the South West who have an exciting opportunity to appoint a Modern Matron.

This is an interim post for up to 6 months. The rate for this position is extremely competitive and the Trust can support with accommodation.

The post holder will lead on the day-to-day management of three wards, overseeing the clinical staff and support them in the smooth running of the service.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • This role provides clinical leadership for nurses and other health professionals providing care in an inpatient and day patient setting;

  • The post holder will be available to ward staff, patients and carers and be responsive to their experiences of care and concerns about the ward environment;

  • The matron holds a key role as a member of the leadership team for the units they are responsible for, alongside psychiatry, psychology and occupational therapist;

  • The matron will provide clinical leadership and support for nursing staff to maintain clinical and nonclinical standards of care and implement quality improvement. This includes ensuring that Care Quality Commission (CQC) essential standards are met and exceeded.

  • To ensure that care is delivered on the inpatient wards or their clinical areas of responsibility, meeting or exceeding the standards expected by the Care Quality Commission.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Current NMC registration RGN/RMN with active pin;

  • Having worked with older adults;

  • Experience working at a senior level;

  • Have knowledge and understanding of the development of clinical services;

  • Experience within risk management principles, good governance and the assurance framework within the NHS;
