Interim Service Unit Manager – Breast Screening

Job Description

We are working with an NHS Trust who are seeking to appoint an Interim Service Unit Manager in the Breast Screening division. This role will be for 3 months and is based on site.

This is an interim role that falls under the Workforce Alliance Framework and should be expected to be remunerated at a c£260 day rate.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Continue to improve waiting times and establish effective monitoring systems, taking corrective action in conjunction with clinical staff;
  • Assist in reviewing demand and capacity planning on a regular basis, ensuring compliance with local and national targets and continuous improvement;
  • Ensure that medical staff rotas are adequate and take corrective action when required;
  • Ensure that rotas are planned in advance;
  • Actively engage in and lead ‘Communication Cells’ and use them as a catalyst to promote a culture of continuous quality improvement;
  • Develop and support the deployment of standard operating procedures to reinforce the agreed standard ways of working.
  • The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience of demand and capacity and activity planning;
  • Significant management experience of a healthcare team at senior level or above including evidence of directly line managing a team;
  • Experience of financial management, budget setting, monitoring and determining corrective action.
