Interim Senior Practice Manager

Job Description

We are working with an NHS organisation who are seeking to appoint an Interim Senior Practice Manager. This role will be for 6 months and is expected to be based mainly onsite.

This role is a key appointment for the organisation’s Primary Care delivery and will support Practice Managers across a specific geographical GP Surgery footprint.

This is an interim role that falls under the Workforce Alliance Framework and should be expected to be remunerated at c£220 – c£260 per day, dependent on experience.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Accountable for the overall responsibility for health centre site management, budget and resources;

  • Responsible for all aspects of practice management and play an integral part in the strategic and operational development of the Practices;

  • Hold overall responsibility for the management of staff and ensuring the efficient and effective running of the GP Practices and Health Centres within the geographical scope;

  • Work with stakeholders to undertake and submit an option appraisal for the future configuration of selected Practices within the footprint;

  • Monitor and evaluate performance against agreed objectives and take appropriate action to identify, develop and implement changes that may be required;

  • Oversee the management of finances, hold budgets and seek to maximise income;

  • Write the Health Centre Practice Development Plan for the organisation;

  • Contribute to the Area Cluster Development Plan specialty/locality service, ensuring developments are identified and progressed;

  • Ensure the efficient development and implementation of policies and procedures.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Educated to Master’s degree level or equivalent experience within healthcare;

  • Proven track record of NHS management and leadership of multi-disciplinary teams;

  • Substantial Practice Management expertise within Primary Care;

  • Credible track record of project management within a healthcare setting;

  • Evidence of collaborative working to improve service performance.
