Interim Head of Quality Improvement

Job Description

We are working with an NHS organisation who are seeking to appoint an Interim Head of Quality Improvement for a short term appointment. The role will be for 3 months initially and will be remunerated at band 8c under the NHS Agency capped rates.

A strong and proven track record in managing improvement programmes and quality improvement methodologies is essential for this role.

The role will be based in the South East and has some hybrid working available.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • The Trust is in the process of developing its 5 - 10 year strategy and the development of the Programme Management Office will be key to this strategy;

  • Responsible for the implementation and oversight of key improvement programmes and support the delivery of performance for safe, high quality and effective services;

  • Use highly developed specialist knowledge and experience of improvement methodology, performance management and programme management to support clinical directorates in the delivery of all improvement programmes across the trust;

  • Support the development and delivery of the operational plan, monitor progress, agree mitigations and provide assurance;

  • Accountable for the efficient, effective financial management of improvement programmes.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Masters level qualification in a relevant field and/or equivalent experience;

  • Proven experience of developing and managing Quality Improvement;

  • Proven experience of QI methodology and intervention with responsibility for embedding QI across the trust;

  • Experience of leading change programme in large/complex organisations;

  • Experience of developing robust business cases;

  • In depth knowledge of NHS operating environment including administration, financial management and risk management;

  • QI competencies, including well developed planning and organisational skills, the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines;

  • Proven ability to persuade and influence others at all levels in the service, demonstrating political and diplomatic skills and awareness of organisational culture, the sensitive, confidential or controversial nature of material and the tactful and appropriate use of it.

  • PRINCE2 Practitioner or APM (project management) qualified with evidence of implementation leadership;

  • MSP, MoP Qualified or equivalent experience.
