Interim Contracts Manager

Job Description

We are working with an NHS organisation who are seeking to appoint an Interim Contracts Manager for 6 months initially with an option to extend.

The role will be in the main remote working with an expectation of some on site commitment at the outset of the assignment and if required.

The role will be at Band 6 AfC and will interview and start ASAP.

This is a key role for the organisation, the post holder will be responsible for the development, implementation and promotion of a robust contract management framework aligned to and which underpins the organisation’s Strategic Direction.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Responsible for contract negotiation, management and oversight and manage the process to deliver against the requirements of a portfolio of contracts with NHS England, Clinical Commissioning Groups, Local Authorities and other commissioners or providers;

  • Management of the Trust’s processes with regard to legally binding contracts this may also include partnership agreements, service level agreements and memorandum of understanding for their delegated portfolio;

  • Co-ordinate the contract negotiation process with commissioners and our research team for their delegated portfolio;

  • Lead the development and management of the designated Trusts main commissioner contracts and the research team;

  • Provide specialist advice on mitigating and managing risk within contracts entered into by the Trust, minimising the Trust’s exposure to financial, clinical, reputational, performance and business risk;

  • Work in partnership with all parties to ensure that commissioners Service Development Implementation Plans (SDIPs) and workplans are delivered;

  • Provide proactive management and professional support to the contracts department;

  • Establish strong liaison with services to support clinical engagement and leadership in improving quality, efficiency and productivity;

  • Ensure the production of accurate and timely reports on contracting to both internal and external stakeholders against standards and expectations.

The ideal candidate will have/be:

  • Educated to degree level in relevant subject or equivalent;

  • Proven significant experience in a contract management role;

  • Experience of identifying and interpreting national policy;

  • Proven experience of proactive contract management;

  • Proven experience with drafting, agreeing and implementing contracts.
