Head of Soft Services

Job Description

Finegreen are currently supporting a large NHS organisation in the appointment of a senior Facilities specialist with healthcare experience, either directly with an NHS Trust or an FM Service Provider.

Key responsibilities will include:

Professional leadership of facilities management services including catering, portering, housekeeping, post, linen, accommodation and other facilities services as deemed appropriate to provide a clean, safe and welcoming environment for patients, visitors and staff;

Maintain effective working relationships with clinical services and departments across a multisite Trust with a range of external organisations including PFI partners, external contractors and statutory bodies;

Ensure effective management of staff and budgets within Facilities Management trust wide; Lead on negotiation and performance monitoring of all facilities management support services provided through external contractors;

Contribute to the development of the Estates & Facilities annual business plan;

Take lead responsibility for ensuring that all relevant statutory health, safety and other legislation and NHS guidance is complied with throughout facilities management services, to include:-

Food hygiene legislation and EHO requirements, National Standards of Healthcare Food and Drink Catering, Cleanliness and control of infection standards (National Standards of Cleanliness), Relevant CQC regulations, NHS PLACE standards, PAM Submission, ERIC Submission;

Manage the interface with the Trust's PFI partner and FM service provider in respect of soft FM services provided under the PFI Concession Agreement;

Monitor the delivery of contractual KPls in relation to the soft FM services. Identify issues and concerns and work with the PFI FM service provider to instigate improvements;

Ensure that required facilities contracts are procured in a complaint manner in conjunction with the procurement department security best value for the Trust.

The ideal candidate will have:

Substantial experience in a senior facilities management role in an NHS acute hospital or similar large organisation;

Experience of working within a PFI hospital environment; negotiating and managing the delivery of facilities services via external contractors;

Experience in leadership and development of teams of staff, also in the delivery of quality services whilst meeting challenging financial targets.
