Head of Facilities Services

Job Description

Finegreen are currently supporting a large NHS organisation in the recruitment of a senior Facilities/Soft FM specialist, this is for an initial period of 6 months.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • A pivotal member of the Estates and Facilities senior leadership team, providing senior leadership, direction and accountability for strategic development to the directly provided and contracted Facilities Services within the Trust ensuring that quality and financial objectives are met;

  • Professionally accountable for the strategic development and operational delivery of Facilities services to the Trust Executive, other Senior Managers, Clinical colleagues and external stakeholders;

  • Will include the interpretation and application of policies, legislative changes, guidance and best practice; contribute to the delivery of key performance targets, service developments and strategy and proactive resource management within available resources to specified targets and standards in line with the Directorate’s strategy and national targets;

  • Responsible for ensuring the environment / significant part of, is safe for patients and staff by guaranteeing the provision of a highly responsive Facilities service to all areas of the Trust;

  • Operationally, this will ensure the Trust’s performance requirements are actively supported and ensure that all Facilities’ services are designed, developed and delivered with the patient as a customer;

  • Leading on specialist aspects of Facilities Services / responsible for interpreting legislative and other requirements on facilities / expert in field;

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership for the Facilities functional delivery areas and help strengthen its contribution to the Trust’s success to ensure mutual benefits are established, planned and delivered;

  • Being accountable for the day-to-day operational management of the Facilities services to include the fullest range of Facilities soft services;

  • Direct and develop services to provide effective and efficient Facilities services, ensuring appropriate delivery outcomes, accurate and timely information and expert advice is provided;

  • Manage the Trust’s PLACE programme and ensure the highest standards in the patient environment, working with the Estates and Capital Planning teams on all environmental upgrades and new projects;

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Professional knowledge acquired through degree or equivalent plus specialist knowledge acquired through post-graduate courses and experience to masters equivalent level plus in-depth managerial, financial and strategic knowledge;

  • Extensive, knowledge of healthcare services and/or Estates and Facilities Management services;

  • Experience of leading and managing a large number of staff;

  • Proven track record of managing operational performance with tight financial constraints demonstrating effective budget management.
