Capital Project Manager

Job Description

We are working with an NHS organisation in the South Central region of the UK who are looking to appoint a Capital Project Manager.

This for an interim period of 3 months with a potential extension or to go permanent, with an hourly rate of £29.53 inside IR35 (Through an Umbrella Solution).

The post holder will assist in the development of the organisations Capital Programme and manage a number of specific projects in order to implement the programme to improve the environment for patients and staff.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Commission and manage delegated Capital projects including work on business case development;

  • Provide expert specialist and professional construction, programme and cost advice to in relation to the projects undertaken and more generally throughout the organisation on behalf of the Head of Projects;

  • Work with Head of Projects to develop and implement capital management policies and procedures for the department;

  • Provide specialist advice on sustainable design issues to healthcare designers and planners;

  • Undertake audits on proposed designs, to ensure they meet the requirements of the organisation;

  • Maintain an in-depth and up-to-date knowledge of sustainable and health-care-related design issues in construction;

  • Lead on several project meetings, steering groups & specialist design groups) linked to schemes within the programme;

  • Provide the technical input into those Project Group meetings;

  • Engage in formal proactive knowledge management processes to take successful practices from NHS and non-NHS agencies and utilise them in the development and implementation of the Capital programme.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience working within the NHS in a management role with expertise in Capital Projects;

  • Budget and Construction Cost Management expertise;

  • Able to use Computerised Design System (CAD);

  • Experience with surveying tools and equipment;

  • Able to manage teams and provide detailed reports in preparation for meetings.
