Director of Estates and Facilities

Job Description

Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

Director of Estates and Facilities

Salary: Band 9 (£101,902 - £116,960)

Contract: Permanent

Location: Chertsey House, St Peter’s Hospital

Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (ASPH) has been on a long journey of development and improvement to its current position as the largest provider of acute hospital services to Surrey residents. The Trust serves a population of more than 410,000 people living in the boroughs of Runnymede, Spelthorne, Woking, and parts of Elmbridge, Hounslow, Surrey Heath and beyond. With our vision to be one of the best healthcare Trusts in the country, this is an exciting and challenging time to be joining our organisation.

Employing over 4,400 staff and with a turnover above £400m, the Trust provides a range of services across its hospital sites. The majority of planned care, like day case and orthopaedic surgery and rehabilitation services, is provided at Ashford Hospital, with more complex medical and surgical care and emergency services at St. Peter’s Hospital.

Due to retirement, we are now seeking to appoint our new Director of Estates and Facilities. The position holds a significant strength and influence within our Trust leading on the delivery of our mission to ensure the provision of high quality planning, development and management of the Trusts’ Estates and Facilities functions and services to the community we serve.  We achieved a significant milestone at the end of 2019 in securing the funding needed to invest in our buildings and services through land sales. This has enabled the Trust to make fantastic changes to improve care for our local people, through new urgent and emergency facilities, better car parking and new digital services.

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, you will be a key member of the senior leadership team as a Corporate Director. You will spearhead the establishment and delivery of our estates and facilities management strategy. You will both lead and influence within the Trust, as well as with external system partners, translating the strategy into tangible outcomes to empower our patients, service users and workforce, as well as drive innovation in the provision of estates and facilities services.

You will ensure our strategies integrate into and enhance our clinical service plans, developments and schemes, as well as ensuring a safe, secure and high-quality patient environment. Being innovative, delivering service change and offering leadership and inspiration, you will use your skills and personal attributes to lead by example and motivate staff to continually improve themselves and their services.

If you are enthusiastic and passionate about the challenges this opportunity offers and believe that you have the experience and ambition to play a key role in delivering our vision, values, and strategic objectives, then we would welcome an application from you.

As a Trust we are proud to be an inclusive employer and welcome applications from candidates of all backgrounds.
