Senior Clinical Manager

Finegreen are supporting with a Hospice in the South Central of the UK, to appoint a Senior Clinical Manager.

The post will be for 6 months with a potential for an extension, with a competitive hourly rate depending on experience.

The post holder will lead the nursing team on the in-patient unit in developing the quality of nursing care whilst acting as a source of support and advice to colleagues and relatives.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Lead the nursing team in developing the quality of nursing care, acting as a source of support and advice to colleagues and relatives;

  • Ensure that clinical care is provided in line with multi professional, evidence-based care plans, is timely and appropriate and that the organisations policies and procedures are adhered to;

  • Take responsibility for a service user group, consulting and liaising with the multi-disciplinary team, service users and family/carers over their care;

  • In consultation with senior leadership team, assess potential service users in liaison with Health and/or Social Services commissioners;

  • Liaise and communicate with other health and social care professionals in the organisation and outside agencies in the planning and delivery of service user care, including junior doctors on placement;

  • Ensure that all service users (or when they are not able, relatives) are given the opportunity to participate fully in the care planning process;

  • Produce accurate, contemporaneous, and complete records of service user consultation, consistent with legislation, policies, and procedures, whether in a handwritten or electronic format;

  • Maintain high standards of care delivery according to NSF, NICE guidelines, and the organisation’s Quality Governance Policy;

  • Assess the impact of policy implementation on care delivery;

  • Support the process of collecting clinical data for the monthly monitoring process;

  • Ensure adequate and appropriate daily staff cover by planning and effective duty rota and participate in the provision of out of hours clinical support;

  • Ensure that any critical incidents, near misses and complaints are reported appropriately in accordance with the organisation’s policy and procedure;

  • Manage and assess risk within the area of responsibility, ensuring adequate measures are in place to protect staff and service users;

  • Act as a role model and share own experience and knowledge informally and formally;

  • Maintain own professional development, seeking opportunities for research and/or development of nursing practice.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A registered nurse with post registration experience in the clinical field;

  • Knowledge of best clinical practice for client group;

  • Awareness of current legislation within independent care sector;

  • Committed to service user involvement;

  • Clinical leadership skills;

  • An ability to provide teaching and mentorship in a clinical setting.
