Security Manager

Job Description

We are working with an NHS organisation to appoint a Security Manager. The post is based in the northwest and has an hourly rate of £29.52 inside IR35 (Through an Umbrella Solution).

The post holder will act as the organisation’s security lead, ensuring that security issues relating to the organisation are dealt with in a professional and timely manner, giving appropriate advice, making sound judgements, and making referrals in line with national and local legislations and policy.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Lead specialist supporting the organisation in delivering an environment that is safe and secure for patients, service users, carers, relatives and NHS staff, NHS property & assets and hazardous materials in relation to security, violence, and aggression;
  • Develop, review, and update all security related policies;
  • Ensure the organisation meets CQC standards relating to security and the management of violence and aggression;
  • Establish training needs for staff in high-risk areas and develop & deliver suitable training e.g., Conflict Resolution, Restraint reduction techniques;
  • Provide expert advice and support to Estates and Facilities Capital projects relating to Security;
  • Lead the NHSLA Risk Management Standards for Security Risk Assessments, Lone Worker and Violence and Aggression;
  • Liaise with the Emergency Preparedness Manager and support the security lockdown procedures required under the Civil Contingencies Act 2004;
  • Develop a robust and effective data filing and control system for risk assessments, action plans, works procurement and monitoring;
  • Managed delegated budgets relating to security management, check, and code invoices each month for sign off by senior management;
  • Ensure all staff are compliant with their mandatory and essential training;
  • Shall identify, assess, and evaluate fire security risks and ensure these are reported through the appropriate systems with robust action plans to mitigate risk;
  • Will be required to thoroughly investigate the nature, cause and extent of significant security incidents and provide comprehensive data and reports where required;
  • Lead on the implementation and compliance for specific sections of quality standards (CQC, NHSLA standards).
  • The ideal candidate will have:

  • Security management qualification and / or equivalent experience;
  • Significant experience of Security Management;
  • Ability to implement appropriate security legislation and identify the implications for the organisation;
  • Knowledge of relevant codes of practice and Data Protection Act;
  • Ability to communicate in a variety of settings to achieve cooperation and influence others;
  • Ability to work with sensitivity and tact.
