Research and Development Manager

Job Description

We are working with an NHS Trust who are seeking to appoint an Interim Research and Development Manager. This role will be for 3 months and is based on site.

This is an interim role that falls under the Workforce Alliance Framework and should be expected to be remunerated at a c£260 day rate.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • To provide leadership and accountability for the safe, effective and efficient operational delivery of services within the Research department;
  • Specifically, the post holder is responsible for the effective deployment and management of non-clinical staff working in Research Office, and for the management of the associated revenue budget;
  • To develop, implement and maintain the research Quality Management System (QMS) for the Trust’s research activity;
  • To develop systems to ensure the regulatory compliance of Trust-wide research activity and which will involve close working with support departments, Clinical Trials Units, Universities and other organisations;
  • To act as Sponsor representative and signatory for the Trust, with responsibility for establishing and delivering an internal research monitoring and audit programme.
  • The ideal candidate will have:

  • Excellent working knowledge of the UK clinical trials regulations; Research Governance and ethical frameworks;
  • Degree or equivalent relevant professional qualification;
  • Evidence of continuing professional development;
  • Postgraduate level qualification to masters level and/ or equivalent knowledge gained through experience.
