Patient Safety & Quality Lead - Mental Health Services

Finegreen are working with a large NHS organisation based in the West Midlands who have an exciting opportunity to appoint a Patient Safety & Quality Lead for Mental Health services.

This is an interim post for 3 months initially with a view to extend. Our client would need 1 day per week working on site based in the West Midlands area with the rest fully remote working. The hourly rate will be £41.13, working inside IR35 (through an umbrella company solution.

The post holder will work as part of a dynamic team to oversee and deliver an effective service, supporting senior managers and clinical staff.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Identify indicators of a quality and safe service and what processes or systems alert to problems/concerns;

  • Work with NHSE to ensure nursing and quality oversight of the Serious Incident review process, in accordance with agreed standard operating procedures, ensuring oversight of the quality of 72 hr reports and RCA’s and improvement action plans completed by providers;

  • Ensure emerging trends and themes are identified and highlighted to the Clinical Directors within the provider collaborative, Directors of Nursing, Commissioners and NHS England;

  • Draft reports are quality assured and factual accuracy checks undertaken;

  • Ensure serious Incident tracker is kept up to date;

  • Responsible for providing clinical professional expertise to achieve quality outcomes, maintaining professional relationships within the CAMHS provider collaborative;

  • Uphold organisational policies and principles on the promotion of equality;

  • The post holder will develop mechanisms to ensure high quality services are in line with national guidance including Care Quality Commission, national best practice and that services reflect evolving models of care.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Must have experience within the NHS/a healthcare setting;

  • Ideally will need a Clinical qualification;

  • Experienced within Quality Governance with knowledge of NHS policies and procedures;

  • Expertise in Patient Safety, Serious Incidents, RCA process;

  • Experience of developing and maintaining effective partnerships with stakeholders in the redesign of services.
