Patient Safety Manager

Job Description

We are working with an NHS organisation in the East of England who are looking to appoint a Patient Safety Manager.

The role will be on an interim period of 3 months initially, with a competitive rate depending on experience.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Actively contributes to and implements the patient safety strategy, vision and objectives, contributing to the development of quality schedules to improve the quality of services and deliver the quality strategy;

  • Enthusiastically contributes and supports the infection prevention and control agenda through the collection and analysis of healthcare acquired infection data including stakeholder management and meetings;

  • Actively supports, promotes and delivers quality improvement and patient safety through quality improvement frameworks; planning, monitoring, implementation and evaluation of defined quality projects by providing high quality support including complex information and analysis, communications and stakeholder management;

  • Responsible for the development and maintenance of databases required for regular reports;

  • Communicate information, risks, issues and dependencies, including briefings and reports to the quality team, sponsors and a range of internal and external staff;

  • Develop and implement data collection systems that will provide accurate and timely data;

  • Present information and issues, explaining highly complex issues, to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders;

  • Develop policies and procedures in own work function with an impact on the wider organisation, as required.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Educated to degree level in relevant subject or equivalent level qualification or significant experience of working at a similar level in specialist area;

  • Registered on part 1 of the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) or equivalent professional registration;

  • Ability to analyse very complex issues where material is conflicting and drawn from multiple sources;

  • Ability to prepare and produce concise yet insightful communications for dissemination to senior stakeholders and a broad range of stakeholders as required.
