Time Commitment:   Circa 3 Days per Month

Summerhill Services Ltd (SSL) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust (BSMHFT) and provides a range of services, from Facilities Management, to PFI Contract Management, to Transport Services and more.  In addition, they deliver Pharmacy Services and support over 200 sites to the primary care sector and other support services in Birmingham and Solihull and the rest of the UK.

Founded in 2012, SSL has grown rapidly, leading to a multi-million pound property portfolio, as well as operating a number of sites on behalf of stakeholders through leases and other occupation arrangements. They continue to develop their services to meet key service needs, by delivering high standards of safety, efficiency and value in operational environments.

SSL have built a strong track record and reputation, by bringing their expertise and knowledge to support clients in delivering high-quality, cost-effective services. The ambition of the board and company is to expand and develop their services and their Vision is - ‘To become the UK’s leading quality service solutions provider of facilities management and operational services of non-clinical and pharmaceutical services within the NHS and healthcare sector.’

To support their continued growth aspirations, SSL are now seeking to appoint an experienced Non-Executive Director (NED) and Deputy Chair. As a member of a company’s Strategic Board of Directors, your role would be to bring a creative contribution to the board, by providing independent oversight and constructive challenge to the executive directors.

You will be expected to bring independence to proceedings as you assist with business strategy and make sure that risks are managed effectively. You will also advise on the development of strategy and to oversee the performance of SSL.

SSL are seeking a strategic and insightful leader, who can successfully combine the best of both private and public sectors. As a suitable candidate you will be accustomed to operating at Board level and you will possess a high level of commercial acumen, with an excellent understanding of the principles of corporate governance.
