Multi-skilled Operative Lead (Electrical)

Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity with an NHS organisation in London as a Multi-skilled Operative Lead - Electrical. The role will be on an interim period of 12 months with an hourly rate of £24.32 an hour, working inside IR35 (through an umbrella solution company).

The post holder will carry out repairs/fault-finding and routine planned maintenance to all electrical services, plant, and equipment within a high security environment.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Act as a Competent person according to HTM 06-03 approved by the Authorised Person in writing to have the necessary technical knowledge, experience, and skills;
  • Prevent danger or injury and accept safety documentation for the organisations HV system;
  • Use appropriate skills and knowledge to install, repair and maintain all electrical services, wiring and equipment;
  • Carry out reactive work planned preventative maintenance to meet performance targets with minimum disruption to staff and patients;
  • Act as a competent person approved in writing for the organisation LV systems;
  • Using core electrical skills and with appropriate training as required, diagnose, and undertake repairs, new works and maintenance on electrical systems and associated plant, equipment, and services;
  • Participate in the department emergency on-call system, which provides 24 hours, 7-day cover, 365 days a year;
  • Take meter readings and carry out the testing of plant and equipment;
  • Keep a record of faults and cures, informing supervisors of the state of the job and the materials required to complete the work, or the need to involve the service of a contractor;
  • Keep a record of faults and cures and communicating these to the Estate Supervisor and other tradesmen and appropriate;
  • Follow set procedures for entering, leaving, and working in patient areas, liaising closely with ward staff.
  • The ideal candidate will have:

  • Must have experience working within the NHS/ a healthcare setting;
  • Recognised electrical apprenticeship or other approved training scheme, plus relevant experience;
  • City & Guilds part II or NVQ Level 3 or other recognised course at the appropriate level;
  • Experience of commercial environment;
  • Minimum of three years’ experience with all types of electrical installations, inc, lifts, panic, fire, nurse call and all LV systems;
  • Demonstrate a sound knowledge and high standards in the field of experience.
