Multi-Skilled Craftsman – Building Services

Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen, supporting a large healthcare organisation as a Multi-Skilled Building Craftsman.

The post will be permanent and based in the Northwest, on a salary of £22,549 - £28,882 depending on experience.

The post holder will act using their own initiative as a multi-skilled building craftsman, providing building maintenance services to properties maintained by the organisation.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Follow and ensure compliance with all trust procedures and policies including Health and Safety and Risk Management;
  • Carry out Risk Assessments for work carried out by self;
  • Liaise with organisation management, nursing personnel, and support personnel to advise on the best course of action to be taken in situations as they arise and carry out recommendations;
  • Ensure compliance with all contractual / statutory / mandatory undertakings associated with delivery of a comprehensive building maintenance service;
  • Ensure compliance with relevant organisation quality initiatives, procedures and policies including health and safety and risk management and all operational policies and procedures;
  • Carry out the full range of building maintenance activities in accordance with relevant health technical memoranda, British standards, codes of practice and legislation;
  • Liaise with nursing staff, organisation management, and other support staff to ascertain the extent of problems, and priority;
  • Undertake specialist mandatory equipment training to enable the organisation to meet its obligations under its policies and legislation;
  • Update knowledge of new techniques/equipment as necessary;
  • Train other members of estates staff as and when necessary.
  • A successful candidate will have:

  • City and Guilds or NVQ Level 2 or equivalent experience;
  • Relevant experience in a maintenance service environment;
  • Computer literate;
  • Driving Licence;
  • Willingness to update skills and training.
