Medical Engineering Technician

Job Description

Finegreen are currently supporting a large NHS organisation in the recruitment of a Medical Engineering Technician.

This is an interim role for 3 months initially, based in London working on an hourly rate if £27.27. (Working inside IR35, through an umbrella solution company).

The post holder will be responsible for commissioning, maintenance, calibration, and repair of a wide range of medical diagnostic and therapeutic devices, within the organisation.

Key responsibilities will include:

Provide specialised clinical technical services for preventative maintenance, servicing, inspection, and repair to a wide range of complex and patient-critical medical devices and laboratory equipment;

Communicate with clinical users and laboratory staff to gain a clear understanding of the nature of problems with equipment;

Assess the seriousness and implications of the problem and respond appropriately to the urgency of the user request;

Resource materials, spare parts, and service providers;

Carry out calibration, quality control, safety, commissioning, and acceptance testing;

Keep relevant maintenance and technical records of work performed;

Ensure the equipment management computer database is operated in an accurate, methodical manner with work being logged as it progresses until completion;

Assist with the Section Helpdesk Service;

Keep accurate records of all work performed and update all appropriate records;

Raising “Purchase Orders” for the procurement of goods and services to facilitate the prompt return to service of equipment;

Inform the E.B.M.E. Workshop Manager and other E.B.M.E. staff of the condition and performance of the equipment within the Post holder’s care;

The ideal candidate will have:

Certificate in Electronic Engineering;

Experience in applying workshop technology to electronic & electro-mechanical equipment;

Able to prioritise and manage own work;

General knowledge of electronic workshop practice and computer systems;

Able to exercise own initiative when dealing with issues within own specialist area of competence;

The ability to work alone and unsupervised whilst also working well as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.

Desirable:

City and Guilds Telecommunication Technicians Technological Certificate.
