We are working with an NHS organisation who are seeking to appoint an Interim Information Governance Officer for a short term 3 month assignment. The role will start ASAP and will focus on delivering a DSPT submission so demonstrable experience with the Data Security and Protection Toolkit is essential.
The role will be hybrid with 1 day a week on site expected.
Key responsibilities will include:
Working with the other IG Team, the postholder will lead on the completion of the Data Security and Protection Toolkit and provide specialist knowledge and expertise on information governance issues;
Support strong and effective leadership of the IG agenda, including the further development of good Information Governance principles and working practice;
Take the lead on the completion of the Data Security and Protection Toolkit for the organisation. This involves supporting the IG Managers to develop and implement the annual work programme and action plans as well as undertaking audit activities as agreed with the IG Managers, liaising with staff and collating accurate and robust evidence to be uploaded to the Toolkit in line with agreed deadlines;
Provide specialist knowledge and expertise on information governance issues at different levels of complexity, demonstrating a strong theoretical understanding of IG, information and system principles
This role will work as part of a team of Information Governance professionals who are responsible for ensuring the organisation has robust information governance (IG) systems and processes in place that keep the organisation safe and meet statutory and NHS requirements;
Provide specialist advice and assistance to staff where required, on:
The implementation of complex information governance legislation, national and local policy and guidance, including the General Data Protection Regulation 2018 and the Data Protection Act 2018, the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and the Confidentiality: NHS Code of Practice;
Information security throughout the organisation in accordance with ISO27001;
The Data Protection Impact Assessment process;
Ensure that specialist knowledge is kept up to date and changes in legislation or national and local policy is communicated effectively to staff at all levels within the organisation.
The ideal candidate will have:
Educated to degree level or relevant training and experience to degree equivalent level in related function;
Professionally qualified (ISEB Data Protection or equivalent) or undertaking professional development;
NHS experience;
Experience of completing the Data Security and Protection Toolkit;
Prior experience of working in the function within a large and complex organisation;
Experience of working with others using a project management approach;
Specialist knowledge of information governance legislation, national and professional guidelines including NHS Digital and the ICO;
Specialist knowledge of Data Protection, Subject Access Requests, Freedom of Information, Caldicott, Consent, Information Security and governance processes and protocols.
