Interim Head of Research Operations

Job Description

We are working with an NHS Trust who are seeking to appoint an Interim Head of Research Operations. This role will be for 3 months and is based on site.

This is an interim role that falls under the Workforce Alliance Framework and should be expected to be remunerated at a c£310 day rate.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • To implement the Trust R&I strategy, growing led research activity and developing the Trials Unit;
  • To be accountable for the strategic and operational management of the department and Trials Unit, including operational performance standards, quality standards, research activity, finance, staff performance and governance;
  • Provide leadership, management and direction to staff within the department, including the Trust Unit, ensuring delivery of a professional, high quality service;
  • To build and shape the future of the Trust Unit and the specialist services offered to the NHS, academia, SMEs and other stakeholders so that the Trust Unit is recognized as a market leader in this specialist area;
  • Develop and deliver the Trust Research & Innovation strategy in line with national objectives and local priorities.
  • The ideal candidate will have:

  • PhD or equivalent relevant professional qualification;
  • Demonstrable management and leadership qualification/experience;
  • PRINCE2 practitioner certificate / other formal project management training.
