Interim Deputy Director of Operations - Surgery

Job Description

We are working with an NHS Trust in the South East of England who are seeking to appoint an Interim Deputy Director of Operations for the Surgery Division. This role will be for 6 months and is based onsite.

The divisional portfolio the successful candidate will be expected to lead on include:

  • General Surgery (Colorectal, Upper and Lower Gastro, Bariatrics)
  • Ophthalmology
  • Specialist Surgery (H&N, ENT, OMFU)
  • Theatre, Anaesthetics, Critical Care, & Pain
  • Trauma & Orthopaedics
  • This is an interim role that falls under the Workforce Alliance Framework and should be expected to be remunerated between c£385 - c£470 day rate, dependant on experience.

    Key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing Operational and Managerial Leadership to the Surgery Division, working in partnership with key managers, department heads and stakeholders;
  • Substantial leadership across RTT performance management, cancer pathway performance management, the Trust has a significant restoration and recovery journey ahead;
  • Ensure that all clinical and non-clinical performance indicators, targets and objectives are met in line with national and local standards;
  • Delivery and translation of Clinical Service Strategy and the development and implementation of business plans and service developments;
  • Ensure that quality, performance, CIP and budgetary targets are monitored;
  • Supporting the delivery of financial targets across the Division.
  • The ideal candidate will have:

  • Operational NHS experience in the Acute healthcare sector;
  • Strong and credible experience of Planned Care, Elective Care and Surgery Operational Management within an NHS and/or healthcare setting;
  • Track record of achieving performance financial and service targets;
  • Ability to collaborate effectively and maintain successful partnerships whist communicating highly complex, contentious and sensitive messages;
  • Proven track record of delivering high quality services and improving services.
