An exciting opportunity has arisen, supporting a Healthcare organisation as a Head of Engineering.
The post will be based in the East of England, on an interim basis for 6 months initially, at a competitive salary.
The post holder will provide a full comprehensive Estate Management service to the organisation including operational maintenance of all the organisations assets and equipment.
Main Responsibilities:
Professionally responsible for ensuring compliance with all statutory requirements, organisation and Estate’s policies, procedures, and best practice in providing all building services. Minimising risk and always encouraging safe working practices;
Operational management of the organisations Estate building and engineering services, ensuring a comprehensive estates maintenance service is provided. Ensuring that effective systems are established to comply with the organisations SO/SFI’s and Audit requirements;
Management and delivery of all internally provided building and engineering services;
Establish and performance manage external contracts which complement the internal delivery of operational services, ensuring compliance with all statutory legislation pertaining to such activities;
Develop and implement appropriate management policies and procedures;
Ensure records which relate to the operational service (including drawings, O&M manuals) are fit for purpose, and kept up to date, to ensure compliance with good practice, statutory, organisations and NHS requirements;
Lead responsibility to manage Estates operational, reactive, and planned maintenance to required timeframe;
Provide and maintain estate information on space utilisation, condition, and backlog maintenance;
Carry out the organisation’s communication devices (pagers, mobile phones and/or two-way radios) (where provided) to facilitate immediate response to emergencies;
Work additional hours as necessary to meet the needs of the service or as needed to oversee emergency repairs;
Responsible for internal communication within the department;
Attending senior briefings and cascading information to the department;
Responsible for planning essential and critical work while ensuring that the needs of the service are met;
Responsibility to manage Estates Revenue Budget;
Ensure that all Estates Staff attend mandatory training in accordance with trust and Directorate Policies and Procedures.
A successful candidate will have:
Educated to master’s level or equivalent;
Additional in-depth post graduate level knowledge;
Professionally qualified engineer with related professional qualification e.g., MIMECHE, MIET, MCIBSE;
Sound knowledge of estates management at a senior management level;
Sound knowledge of mechanical/electrical/building services in healthcare premises;
Knowledge and experience in management of contracts, finances, business rates, insurance requirements;
Previous management experience within depth financial and strategic knowledge;
Experience of working at senior management level/contributing to board level topics;
Proven ability to plan and manage complex building and engineering systems and maintenance regimes;
In depth knowledge of estates strategies and how they link with clinical relationships.
