Head of Corporate Governance

Job Description

We are currently recruiting to the following new opportunity for an interim to permanent role, working as a Head of Corporate Affairs within a small NHS organisation. The organisation is currently recruiting a permanent member of staff although will review CVs of those for an interim or permanent opportunity.

If you are interested in the interim role, the post will be required for 3 months initially with a potential extension in place. The location of the role is in Yorkshire and Humber and will require some on-site working. The hourly rate will be between £34.65 - £41.13, working inside IR35 and through an umbrella solution company.

The post holder will report to the Director of Corporate Affairs and is supported by a Corporate Governance Manager.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Provide information, assistance, and advice to Non-Executive Directors on Board business as appropriate, often of a complex and confidential nature;

  • Support the management of all administration provided to the Board, Boards of subsidiaries, Board Committees and Council of Governors;

  • Formulate agendas for key meetings in conjunction with the relevant Chair and Director of Corporate Affairs;

  • Ensure meetings are run and are administered in accordance with terms of reference and standing orders;

  • Managing the receipt and co-ordination of agendas and papers for meetings according to exacting timescales;

  • Check all meeting papers for accuracy and presentation in advance of distribution;

  • Transcribe formal minutes for key meetings in a timely and accurate manner;

  • Take responsibility for ensuring the corporate governance section and Council of Governors section of the website and intranet display accurate and appropriate information, updating as required;

  • Support the Group Company Secretary and Associate Director of Human Resources and Organisational Development in the appointment of Non-Executive Directors.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience working within the NHS/a healthcare setting;

  • Extensive expertise within Corporate Governance with a broad understanding of NHS policies, procedures, and legislation;

  • Working at a management level, able to lead staff and work with senior management/Board level;

  • Excellent communication skills and able to write detailed reports.
