Head of Capital Projects

Job Description

Finegreen are supporting a leading healthcare organisation based in the Midlands to appoint a senior Estates professional to operationally manage several Capital Projects/Programmes.

A leadership post, responsible for the overall capital development schemes and all staffing related. This will include the project team and associated staffing, including external contractor management.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Responsibility for the delivery of the operational capital programme including planning, design, construction, and commissioning, ensuring minimum disruption to patient, staff and visitor safety during construction works;

  • Select and appoint external contractors to ensure project delivery and governance, including design teams (architects, civil engineers, and electrical & mechanical engineers), construction contractors, cost and programme consultants, legal advisors, and health and safety advisors;

  • Ensuring that all projects are correctly managed including contract management, making sure regular reports are developed and presented to demonstrate all aspects of project governance;

  • Manage project programmes with each individual project manager;

  • Develop the existing capital projects team to ensure that there are suitable resources (quantity, skills and experience) to deliver the capital programme;

  • Lead and manage the overall governance and risk management processes for all projects;

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Demonstrated experience of working within a senior operational management post, leading on Capital Development and teams related;

  • Professional qualification in related estates field, ideally engineering or building services;

  • Ideally hold current Membership of Institute of Healthcare Engineering and Estate Management (IHEEM) or similar professional body (or working towards);

  • Highly developed leadership skills with ability to motivate and inspire others;

  • Ability to think strategically and develop practical plans to implement strategies;

  • Excellent communication skills.
