Estates Project Manager - Capital Projects

Finegreen are representing an NHS organisation in the Southeast Coast of the UK who are looking to appoint an Estates Project Manager - Capital Projects on an interim basis for 3 – 6 months with a view to go permanent.

The hourly rate will be £34.65 per hour working inside IR35 (through an umbrella solution company).

The post holder will provide a quality service within the Capital Projects department carrying out; Estates strategic planning, refurbishments, new builds, estates projects and minor capital works.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Planning of future capital developments in line with the organisational clinical and estates strategy;

  • Line management of the internal capital project management team (interim and substantive);

  • Appoint and effectively manage the design consultants and contractors to ensure delivery of the project;

  • Provide design and specification of complex technical issues to enable the client brief to be delivered as a Capital Project;

  • Ensure that clear and firm project plans and programmes are in place, ensuring the full integration of services, physical, and financial planning;

  • Advice on PFI, PPP and Procure 22 by researching best practice and latest guidance, and by establishing link with other Trusts and NHSI;

  • Liaise with operational colleagues within Estates, Facilities and IM&T on the impact of the development;

  • Ensuring that appropriate project management documentation is developed and maintained as the basis for progression of activities and that people, including a range of external contractors are held to account;

  • Work closely with project sponsor/chairman to lead the work on behalf of the Board for setting the design brief and assist in the development of the business case;

  • Prepare and manage the client brief and co-ordination of the client briefing process within the organisation and any external stakeholders;

  • Develop a wide knowledge of Health Service procurement procedures, regulations and systems relating to capital investment.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • An equivalent level of experience with a minimum of 3 years’ experience delivering capital schemes within the NHS;

  • Degree of equivalent in Engineering / Construction related subject;

  • Professional / academic qualification to master’s level or equivalent level or experience of capital development;

  • Demonstrable experience in the commissioning of new facilities including design, specifications, project management and contract administration;

  • Excellent numerical, verbal and writing communication skills;

  • Ability to communicate technical subjects to non-technical people.
