Estates Programme Manager - Capital Projects

Job Description

We are working with a large NHS organisation in the Southeast coast of the UK who are looking to appoint an Estates Programme Manager to manage Capital Projects on a permanent basis.

The annual salary with be between £54,764 - £63,862 dependant on experience, including NHS benefits.

The post holder will be responsible for managing a portfolio / Programme of Capital Projects from inception to completion, having an oversight of costings and budgets.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Lead on the establishment of a procurement plan for the Programme and engagement of external design consultants and contractors to ensure standards of delivery;

  • Lead on the development of Programme wide Business Cases to ensure core interdependencies are considered;

  • Coordinating the programme with other organisation projects and general operational activity and ensuring that momentum is maintained;

  • Ensure a consistent design strategy for the programme and develop complex technical issues to enable the client brief to be delivered as a Programme of Projects;

  • Work closely with Senior organisation Managers to lead the Programme on behalf of the Board for setting the Key Performance Indicators and specific project deliverables;

  • Ensuring that appropriate programme management documentation is developed and maintained as the basis for progression of activities and that people, including a range of external contractors are held to account;

  • Developing and maintaining a comprehensive framework for management and reporting of portfolio programme risks and issues;

  • Have responsibility for budgets and be a signatory for cost centres with delegated authority; Ensure that these cost centres are managed within budget and opportunities for savings identified are subsequently achieved without detriment to service delivery.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Degree of equivalent experience in Engineering / Construction relating subject;

  • An equivalent level of experience with a minimum of 5 years’ delivering capital schemes within the NHS;

  • Relevant professional or management qualifications e.g., Chartered Status such as RIBA, RICS, CIOB, APM, PMI etc;

  • Managing multi-disciplinary relationships with stakeholders in a relevant organisational setting;

  • Understanding of the design development process and key RIBA project stages;

  • Excellent numerical, verbal, and written communication skills;

  • Must be able to communicate at all levels – ability to communicate technical subjects to non-technical people.
