Estates Electrical Engineering Manager

Job Description

We are currently working with a large NHS organisation to recruit an Estates Electrical Engineering Manager to work on an interim basis for 3 months. The post will require on site working with an hourly rate of £33.26, working inside IR35 (through an umbrella solution company).

The post holder will be responsible for the co-ordination of and the daily operation of the Estates department and an Electrical engineering specialist.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing and supervising qualified and non-qualified trades staff in the provision of a planned preventative maintenance, responsive reactive maintenance and repair service to the hospital and associated community properties;

  • Ensuring compliance with organisational standards, procedures and legislation and providing specialist advice to the Head of Operational Estates and Head of Estates and Capital Projects;

  • Manage the supervision of contractors undertaking maintenance, repairs and minor alterations and additions;

  • Carry out the preparation of an annual plan of irregular maintenance needs based on the building service surveys and submit proposals on Estates matters for inclusion in the operational and forward planning programme;

  • Maintain records of maintenance and testing of works services and equipment and such records as are required under the Health and Safety at Work Act and other statutory Legislations and Policies;

  • Ensuring the organise provides an Estates services that are safe, whilst optimising the opportunities to provide high quality of patient care.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Must have experience working within the NHS/ a healthcare setting;

  • Degree or HND in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, or related subject;

  • Management experience in an Engineering, FM or Building environment within a large organisations;

  • Experience of budgetary responsibility, cost improvement plans and QIPP;

  • Experience of managing Engineering or Building Services projects;

  • Understanding of Health & Safety, and fire safety;

  • Good planning and communication skills and ability to work under on initiative.
