DoLS Nurse Assessor

Job Description

Finegreen are currently assisting in the appointment of a Deprivation of Liberty Safeguard (DoLS) Nurse Assessor working with CHC teams. This is a leadership role, and candidates wishing to be considered will have worked at a leadership level within the specialist area.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • The post holder will lead on ensuring the delivery of a high quality, comprehensive DoL assessment for all people identified as CHC eligible;

  • Act as liaison between Children’s Continuing care and Adult Continuing health care team for young people in transition.

  • Assist in the ongoing development of an effective and high-quality service in compliance with the Mental Capacity Act (Amendment) 2019;

  • Ensure that the team deliver completed MCA, BI decisions, and applications for Community DoL or Judicial DoL;

  • Provide leadership regarding enabling individuals to make informed choices about care and support;

  • Responsible for supporting the MCA, DOL and LPS Lead Practitioner in liaising with the CCG legal representatives to make applications to the Court of Protection for a hearings;

  • Identify, report, and appropriately respond to Safeguarding alerts/concerns;

  • Accountable for developing policies and procedures in own work function considering the impact on the wider organisation;

  • Draft reports summarising status on issues, appraising outcomes, and providing progress reports for the Head of Department;

  • Work with key partners to develop joint policies and procedures which will enhance the overall delivery of service-to-service users and enable closer working practices.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Professional Qualification and current registration with a relevant professional body;

  • Extensive knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act and Mental Health Act;

  • Experience working in diverse situations which require specialist experience, expertise and sensitivity;

  • Best Interest Assessor qualification;

  • Extensive experience of assessment of health and social care needs.
