Designated Nurse - Children

Job Description

We are excited to be supporting an NHS organisation with above post, the role is remote working and can be looked at on a part time basis.

The post holder will be expected to support their team, department, and organisation to whilst maintaining and improving standards across the organisation for the provision of Looked After Children.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Support all activities necessary to ensure that the organisation meets its responsibilities for looked after children and young people;

  • Contribute to the planning and strategic organisation of provider services for looked after children;

  • Take clinical responsibility for developing, delivering, and auditing high quality services to children and young people;

  • Ensure that staff are using and applying safeguarding procedures by facilitation of an environment of reflection and inquiry that optimises learning achieved through the supervision of staff;

  • Monitor trends, quality and appropriateness of referrals and identify gaps, duplications, and blockages to systems and take appropriate action;

  • Provide quarterly performance reports and an annual report to the board, demonstrating successful service delivery and improved outcomes.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Current NMC registration to the relevant specialist area;

  • Have significant clinical experience of the health needs of children and young people and the health needs of looked after children, specifically Safeguarding provision and SEND;

  • Evidence of experience in the needs of children in care with attachment disorders, disabilities, and those whose first language is not English;

  • Have a comprehensive understanding of policies and Government documents relating to the health and well- being of Children in Care.
