Chief People Officer

Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Interim Chief People Officer to lead the team within a London NHS organisation. The Chief People Officer will be responsible for developing and implementing the organisation strategy, policy and procedure across all aspects of people management, development and health and Wellbeing.

Main responsibilities:

  • Provide senior strategic leadership and management to the People Directorate;
  • Develop and refine the People strategy and policy for the Trust and develop Directorate business plans, strategic objectives aligned to and supporting organisational objectives, performance targets and delivery systems;
  • Responsible for the development and delivery of a range of People strategy work programmes and educational initiatives on behalf of the Trust;
  • Work across boundaries to seek the input and collaboration with the Trust’s existing and emerging partner organisations;
  • Work closely with the Trust’s senior managers, executive team and non-executive members and governors across a range of people management, leadership and management tasks and activities, developing and contributing to corporate policy and strategy development and implementation;
  • Manage and develop the operational delivery of the People and EDI plans and products within the Board expectations and requirements;
  • Lead the internal delivery team to ensure continual development of the individuals, the team, and the service;
  • Develop and nurture the collaborative networks required to deliver the programmes of work;
  • Establish and develop the reputation of the People Function of the organisation and ensure its credibility both internally and externally.
  • Key Skills/Experience:

  • Previous NHS experience in a HR Director, Organisational and Workforce Development or Education and Training role;
  • Experience leading significant programmes of transformational / complex change;
  • Political/ strategic influencing and persuasion skills;
  • Ability to develop and deliver complex strategy at and operational delivery at an organisational and Departmental level.
